Frequently Asked Questions
Visiting a bookkeeping and small business consultant can be intimidating and confusing.
Below are some commonly asked questions people ask prior to visiting us.

Do you do business returns?
We are equipped to assist businesses with accounting services, back tax filing, bookkeeping, business consultations, corporate taxes, electronic filings, estate taxes, federal tax preparation, income tax services, individual taxes, payroll services, and tax planning/preparation.
What are the items I need to bring to process my tax filings?
We share your urgency in getting things completed as quickly as possible. To accomplish this, we have produced a checklist for those with a less complicated tax return and those who also have additional circumstances which may alter your tax obligations. Click here for the tax list.
How long should I keep my tax records?
The Internal Revenue Service "suggests" that three years from the due date of your last return is a proper gauge. We at M & M Bookkeeping urge you to discard receipts, bill and credit card statements after three years. Please keep your tax returns, W-2s, 1099s from banks and investment firms and contracts for owned assets as part of your permanent file.

How can I get my tax refund and at what speed?
-
Direct Deposit - One of the most popular options is e-filing. Once submitted it takes around eight to fifteen business days to be directly deposited into your bank account, at no additional charge. We have even seen the process occur in as little as five days!
-
IRS Check - Typically the turnaround time is three-four weeks.
